LEGO volcanoes, dinosaurs, spaceships, Batcave & more
It's been fifty-five years since LEGO® made its first colourful and creative appearance in Australia and those little building blocks of imagination have been making their mark with kids and kids at heart ever since. Come and celebrate all that's great about LEGO and the legions of LEGO fans at this year's BrisBricks Brisbane Expo – A LEGO® Fan Expo at Chandler Arena from Saturday 30 September to Monday 2 October 2017.
Thousands of LEGO enthusiasts attend this bi-annual expo to see what's new, what's hot and what's amazing in the world of LEGO, and this year will be no exception. This fan-generated and fan-managed event features the works of BrisBricks' talented team of LEGO loving volunteers. They bare their LEGO souls by creating and displaying their own inventions and putting their own collections on display so the Brisbane public can enjoy a "mind-boggling LEGO adventure".
This time there will be so many features it's hard to know where to start, but let's give it a try. How about:
* intricate interactive displays including remote-controlled LEGO cars
* a full sized hotel complex complete with a beach
* a large train layout complete with volcanoes, dinosaurs and even a spaceships or two?
* Australia's largest Great Ball contraption
* a special LEGO play area for kids
* LEGO retailers and LEGO jewellery
If all that's not big enough for you then you need to know the really big announcement (drum roll, please). Brent Waller (creator of the LEGO® Ideas Ghostbusters project and the man who custom designs LEGO Minifigures) will be on hand, together with some of the vehicles and creations he built specially for the recently released LEGO Batman™ film. They include a custom built bat cave and a mind-blowing Joker/Batman mosaic. C'mon, you know you're just dying to say, "To the bat cave, Robyn!", in your best Adam West voice (well, only if you're from my vintage).
BrisBricks Club Secretariat, and LEGO Great ball contraption expert Alan Burchill says "BrisBricks has given me opportunity to validate my passion for LEGO Great Ball contraption and created some healthy competition with other LEGO fan clubs across the country. This show we plan to have over 75 ball contraption modules which will put us first in the country, it's going to be HUGE!"
It's nice to know that the BrisBricks Adult Fan of LEGO (AFOL) community in South East QLD is a not for profit club that, besides bringing joy to the lives of Brisbane's LEGO lovers, supports many local children's charities. This year part of the event's proceeds will assist Act for Kids and the Lions Club.
