Why eat at sane places, when you could choose bizarre?
Whether you're ready for something unusual, are after a fun night out or perhaps to shock your visitors that have come to town, where to go to find Brisbane's wackiest restaurants?
Let me share some insider secrets with you.
A place where the men are scared or proud
1. If it's a view you're after, apparently the male toilets in the Regatta Hotel in Brisbane are touted as the loo with a view.
Along the back wall of the men's urinal is a large one way mirror and whilst you can see out they can't see in. However many a drunk gentleman has looked up in horror to find a passing by staring at his well you know what. It's all fine they can't see you but that doesn't mean you won't get a fright finding that out.
[ADVERT]2. Now the reason that most people go out for dinner is because they do not want to cook their own meal. However if you would prefer to go out for dinner, cook your own meal, and pay for the privilege, then you may like Hong Depot.
Settling in with music that is a little weird, you are placed at your own table with your very own barbecue. A bucket of hot rocks will be placed inside your barbecue, followed by bowls packed with marinated chicken and vegetables and mushrooms. You must barbecue everything yourself.
You will most likely waste the first pieces, as they will no doubt end up as burnt cinders, but your waiter will help you to get it right and it is all in the name of good fun.

Forest Dining - well nearly!
3. If dining in a jungle is more to your taste, you may enjoy the Sling Lounge. When you first enter, it seems like a normal little bar; however if you wander out the back to the undercover courtyard, you'll find yourself surrounded by greenery and secluded jungle settings.
They have a fun tapas menu with some really delicious little options including black truffle cigars with spicy sauce, whilst the tapas and snacks are good it is really for drinks that you would come here for.
The waiter tells me they have over 350 cocktails he could make and has therefore separated the menu into different sections such as Molecular Mixology. I really liked the menu of the "hot and creamy" section of cocktails.

Be entertained, or even drink blood with your meal
4. If you're up for a frightfully fun night, this may be just the ticket.Offering different shows, the manager of Dracula's Theatre Restaurant advises me they have turned a little more raunchy lately and are geared well away from their G rated shows.
Branching into burlesque, you're sure to have a twist to it at Dracula's Castle. The evening consists of dinner, a show and some dancing afterwards. But to get you started, you will ride the ghostly train with thrills and scares in store and just in case that hasn't put you off your food, maybe the food itself will.
The food all has a horror twist and you may find yourself drinking blood (in the form of a Bloody Mary). The fun staff will certainly vamp it up for you and the audience end up almost as much part of the show as the actors that work here.
Although 1.5 hours outside of Brisbane, it's a pleasant drive along the coast.

5. The fifth on the list is one for the kids - Geckos, where you can play on a nine hole blacklight mini-golf courses, laser tag, balltronics, Lasertronics, and a fully decked out three-storey play area, then share a meal together.
