Share a conversation about a classic Brisbane-based book
Do you love contributing to a book club conversation where you can meet with other literary lovers and discuss the characters and blissful stories of your favourite book? If this sounds like you, then be sure to mark Saturday 13 April 2019 in your diary and get along to Brisbane's Biggest Bookclub.
Bring along your ideas, unanswered questions and an appetite for literature as Avid Reader Bookshop hosts this literary landmark event at Brisbane's Old Museum Building in Bowen Hills.
The book selected for discussion couldn't have been a better choice. Get ready to discuss Boy Swallows Universe by Brisbane author and journalist, Trent Dalton.
The book is simply wonderful seeing life through the eyes of a young Eli Bell, who faces a mix of tragic, dangerous and what could seem unbelievable experiences against a backdrop of drug deals, prison escapes, family dislocation and reunion, young love, hopefulness and a desire to start a career as a journalist.
At first glance, the story of Eli and his family would seem unbelievably chaotic except that much of it is based on Trent's own life. See my full review here.
Find out more as Trent will be in-conversation with Kathleen Noonan. Kathleen is also a journalist and columnist who has reported in South Africa, the United Kingdom and Australia. You may recognise her for her weekly column 'Last Word' which has appeared in Saturday's Courier-Mail.

The Old Museum Building is a talking point in itself. The heritage listed building was built in 1891 for the Queensland National Agricultural and Industrial Association and designed by Architect Addison, George Henry Male
