For those unfamiliar with this worldwide phenomenon, it dates back to 2001, when fans of a local film festival in America decided it would be a fun way to promote the event. Since then, Zombie Walks have been happening all over the world, and Brisbane currently holds the record for being the largest.
It's not all just about dressing up like a zombie and marching with a mob groaning, 'braaiins,' there is a wonderful fundraising side to the event as well; participants can register to be sponsored and raise money for the Brain Foundation of Australia.
Last year's Brisbane participants raised $13,000 and this year the organisers are hoping to raise even more. You can register a www.brisbanezombiewalk.com.
The walk begins at 3pm sharp at Wickham Park (near the Roma Street Parklands in the CBD), ambling its way through to Centenary Place in Fortitude Valley.
There's an official after party for all ages, which will be held at the Tempo Hotel (388 Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley), with DJs and an 18 and over section for those who want to enjoy a nice cold beverage afterwards.
It's great fun for all ages, so get your gore on and become a zombie for a good cause!
