Are your eyes constantly bloodshot and your skin a dull grey colour? Do you no longer feel pain? Have you developed an insatiable appetite for brains? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions then you may just be a zombie, and if so we want you!
The Brisbane Zombie Walk is back in 2012 and this October, the undead event is bigger and better than ever. Zombies will take over Southbank for a whole day of dead set awesome festivities.
The Brisbane Zombie Walk began in 2006, but it wasn't until 2009 when the event became affiliated with the Brain Foundation of Australia that it became an undying part of Brisbane's event calendar. That same year, over 5000 zombies took part in recording an unofficial world record, while 2010 saw the event double in size. Since then the event has become infectious with between 15 000 and 20 000 participants in 2011 and $24,000 raised for the Brain Foundation. This year, organisers are dying for a repeat of the success of last year's event and hope to raise even more money for the cause.
Kicking off at 10 at the Southbank Forecourt, the Zombie Festival will feature movies, markets, make-up, and music before the living dead embark on their walk through Brisbane's streets at 3pm. After the walk the festivities roll on well into the evening. Along with fundraising efforts on the day, there are also opportunities and information to help you organise your own private fundraising functions to help organisers reach this year's target of $25,000.
