Books, writing and all things literary will be celebrated again this September during the 2018 Brisbane Writers Festival.

In a series of events which invite curiosity, sharing ideas and thought-provoking discussion, the Brisbane Writers Festival is a Spring favourite among avid readers and book lovers around Australia.

The theme for this year's festival is "What the World Needs Now" and will be held at the Queensland Cultural Precinct at the from 6-9 September 2018,

The history of the Festival
Since its humble beginnings in 1962 as part of the Warana Festival (remember the spectacular, whimsical floats), the Brisbane Writers Festival has evolved and grown to become a much loved and stellar, 4 day arts event.

What's on in 2018
Of course, it wouldn't be the Brisbane Writers Festival without a raft of local, national and international guests. So it goes without saying that this year's program is jam-packed with enticing events, including in-conversations with authors featuring Veronica Roth, Michelle de Kretser, Richard Fidler, Gareth Evans, Melissa Lusaschenko and Nikki Gemmell just to name a few. Check ou the program at https://bwf.org.au/uploads/bwf-2018-program_2.pdf

Wordsplay
There's something specifically for the kids too. The Wordplay program returns from 4-7 September 2018 with events designed for school students. The program features award winning illustrators, young adult authors and children's authors. Look out for Science guru Dr Karl Kruszeinski and the brave and inspiring adventurer Jessica Watson (who sailed non stop and non assisted around the world) to discuss her book Indigo Blue.

The full BWH program was launched on 5 July 2018 and tickets are available for purchase from 10 July 2018.
