Food festivals are a big part of Australian culture, and every area will have their own twist that they put on festivals, or festivals that celebrate the local food. During November, the
Brisbane Water Oyster Festival is returning to the Central Coast.
Come on over to Lion’s Park at North Burge Road in Woy Woy on the tenth of November from 10am until 4pm to celebrate the oysters of the Central Coast. You’ll find the freshest oysters, and you can get them directly from the local growers and chat with the farmers to learn about oysters, the farms they come from, and the environment. This is a unique, local event in Lions Park, and it is heading into its 21st year. There will be stalls with amazing food, as well as crafts, live music and the hero of the event – the freshest seafood ever and oysters.
In addition to the live music, food, crafts and stalls, there will be the famous oyster eating competition – how many oysters can you eat in half an hour? This will be happening on stage throughout the day – if you win, you’ll get bragging rights and a trophy.
This festival showcases an integral part of the economy of the Central Coast as it shows off a special part of the region, so don’t deny yourself this experience to learn more about oysters and their place in the ecosystem.
To get to the event, the organisers suggest taking alternative transport, and the options are:
Getting there by car – park at Oval Avenue Carpark, and walk along the waterfront
Shuttle bus available from Ferry Road, Ettalong Beach via Woy Woy Station
Train to Woy Woy station
Ferry – check the timetables for Palm Beach ferries and Central Coast ferries
Ride your bike
So come and have a good day celebrating oysters and the Central Coast!
