Festive Musical Fun
The talented folk at the Brisbane Ukulele Musical Society (affectionately known as BUMS) will be bringing their unique brand of festive fun to Ferny Grove this December as they host a musical Christmas spectacular. The event will feature players of all levels of "uke" players who simply love this fun, four stringed, guitar-like instrument. Ukulele Basics will be led by experienced and accredited BUMS musicians, Linda Gough and Paul Morris and intermediate levels will be led by Tony Richardson and friends.
Special guest performances will feature The NUMB BUMS, Day Trippers and The Night Riders. The groups will play a mix of Christmas and holiday songs and some of their all time favourites. As well, there will be prizes and raffles, finger food as well as the chance to visit the Morris Brothers Music popup shop. Dinner and drinks are also available for purchase from the Ferny Grove Bowls Sport and Community Club.
The Brisbane Ukulele Musicians Society started as a small group of friends with a common interest in playing ukulele in 2006, Today, the society continues to grow and currently has over 200 financial members. Members can come to monthly jams held in seven Brisbane locations or practise weekly with one of our three community bands. BUMS Inc also runs ukulele concerts, workshops and festivals.
BUMS Inc held its first ukulele festival, Brisbane's Big Uke Jam in 2011 and now make it a biennial event held every odd year. For details of jams and other events check the BUMS websitehttp://www.brisbaneukulele.com/events/jam-venues/
