My understanding is that team is an old Melbourne tram and not from Brisbane

Yes it's definitely a Melbourne tram. Model W2 249 built by James Moore and Sons in 1924. Brisbane trams were silver. Check out the tramway museum at Ferny Grove.
Also the terminus was as stated earlier in the article in Stafford Road near Clifton Street. It was a busy shopping precinct. The tramline was never extended to Everton Park.

Yes it is a Melbourne tram Last year Melbourne sold off a lot of no longer required trams and I believe this is one that a lady bought and had transported to Brisbane
