Brisbane , one of the world's most beautiful cities, has the best weather for outdoor parties. Our bright summer sunshine and mild, cool winters bring festivals to Queensland throughout the year. In 2018, Brisbane is bursting with festivals, celebrating music, dance, visual art, theatre, film, food, wine, country life and simply being a Brisbanite. Fill your year with fun – book these festivals in your diary, listed in order, from January – December.

  • St Jerome's Laneway Festival – 10 February 2018 – free and ticketed events
  • Beginning in an intimate laneway bar in 2004, St Jerome's Laneway Festival is now an annual musical celebration spanning 7 cities in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. The Festival is unique for a fun atmosphere, encouraging local community expression, leading to music which quickly becomes essential listening for the mainstream. Previous acts have included Architecture in Helsinki , The Presets , Clare Bowditch .   • Supercell: Festival of Contemporary Dance – 9 – 18 February 2018 – ticketed events
  • During a ferocious tropical storm in Queensland, the idea for Supercell was born.   • Red Hot Summer – 10 February 2018 – ticketed event
  • One of the hottest places in summer, Brisbane is the best place for red hot rock and roll. The Red Hot Summer festival brings our biggest local musicians across Australia on a grand tour.   • Paddyfest Brisbane – Saturday 17 March 2018 – ticketed event
  • Paddyfest is the largest all-ages St Patrick's Day festival ever seen in Brisbane! Paddyfest is a proud celebration of all things Irish – great beer, food, culture, entertainment and great craic! Eagle Farm Racecourse will play host to an array of bars, food stalls, a set by stand-up comedian Jimeoin, traditional Irish dancing, roving pipe bands, live music and more.   • Brisbane Comedy Festival – 23 February – 25 March 2018 – free and ticketed events
  • At the end of Feb, an epidemic of tickled funny bones will spread throughout Brisbane as over 60 Australian and international comedians become the doctors, nurses and orderlies of mirth.   • At the Logan Entertainment Centre, car fanatics of all ages will enjoy the sights, sounds and...smells... of cars, bikes and trucks in the 10th anniversary Car Show. Cars will be gleaming for the show and shine displays of automotive artistry or roaring for the fast and furious race events.   • Ipswich hosts the southern hemisphere's biggest country and roots festival in March.   • Women of the World Festival – 6 – 8 April 2018 – ticketed events
  • In the 21st century, the number of women in leadership roles has never been higher. While Hillary Clinton missed her 'Obama' moment, the stories of inspirational women in all fields, from politics and economics to science, law, engineering and sport, are reaching a global audience through mainstream and social media.   • Banff Mountain Film Festival – 9 - 14 April 2018 – From $27 - $37

  • Ocean Film Festival – 16 – 18 April 2018 – ticketed event

  • Festival of Tibet – 26 – 29 April 2018 – free and ticketed events
  • The magical landscape and enigmatic people of Tibet are often at risk, from political and environmental dangers. Despite this, or perhaps in response to it, a Tibetan ideal of non-violence and compassion has inspired millions of people to live according to these Buddhist values.   • In 15 venues throughout Queensland, the QMF encourages and inspires local musicians to tell the stories of their communities through song.
