A Christmas tradition for all Brisbanites

'Brisbane Sings Messiah' is one of the Queensland Choir's signature events and has become a Christmas tradition for many audience members, including people who don't regularly go to concerts.

The special biennial classical music event features Handel's great masterpiece 'Messiah' performed by a spectacular 150 voice chorus.

Staged in the outstanding concert venue of Brisbane City Hall, this anticipated family-friendly event will be held on Sunday 1st December 2019 at 2:45pm.

With its blazing trumpets, thundering tympani and thrilling Hallelujah Chorus, Handel's great choral masterpiece offers a magnificent combination of theatrical effect and spiritual reflection.

The Queensland Choir's 150 voice chorus will be accompanied by guest soloists and fabulous Sinfonia of St Andrew's orchestra.

The soloists are Eleanor Greenwood (soprano), Sarah Winn - (mezzo-soprano), Phillip Costovski (tenor) and Sam Hartley (bass) and the performance will be conducted by Kevin Power OAM.

The Queensland Choir has been performing since 1872 and is now regarded as one of the premier large choirs in Australia. The choir is made up of 150 volunteer choristers from a wide range of backgrounds. The choir has performed regularly with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, the Sinfonia of St Andrew's orchestra and other orchestras and instrumental groups and also collaborates with other choirs in and around Brisbane.
