You've summoned up your courage to ask out your crush - and they said yes! You might think the hard part is over, but it's only just begun. Now you have to figure out where to go.

We've already provided you with lists of restaurants and cinemas for a great first date. But if you're looking for something a little less generic, read on.

First dates can be a little nerve-wracking, so why not break the ice with a glass of wine and a paintbrush? Cork and Chroma paint and sip sessions give amateur artists a chance to unleash their inner Kahlo or Van Gogh. Just BYO beverage and let Cork and Chroma do the rest! In Brisbane, Cork and Chroma has locations at West End and South Bank.

Shared interests provide a foundation for a good first date and if you're both animal lovers, try the Puppy Experience at Collies and Co. The Samford Valley establishment has everything you could want in a cafe - good coffee, a bright al fresco dining area, and a pen-full of puppies. The Puppy Experience provides diners with a meal and beverage, followed by a 45 minute cuddle session with the puppies. Bookings are essential and can be made through the website.

And for an intimately intense getting-to-know-you opportunity, try an escape room, where working together on challenges and solving puzzles provides a great chance to bond. Try Fox in a Box, Puzzled Room Escape or Seraphim Escape Rooms.

Ramp up the quirky factor with a coffee from The Paladar South Brisbane. The war bunker turned cigar bar turned cafe is a slice of Cuba in the middle of Brisbane city, with coffee and baked goods for sale, free fruit for all, live music and a huge selection of books. The Paladar is open every day from 7am until 4pm.

From American food in an alleyway to Asian grocers buried inside abandoned buildings, this city is full of interesting bars located just out of sight. If you're looking for drinks and nibblies after dark, slip on your explorer's hat and check out one of Brisbane's underground bars.

Finally, give them an experience they'll never forget at Public, an inner-city eatery cooking up some very interesting recipes. Gourmet, with a focus on Peruvian flavours, Public offers a seafood heavy restaurant where options include octopus tentacles in squid in and spicy mealworms. Public's meals are designed to be shared in a light-hearted social manner, making it a perfect date restaurant.
