I'm a beginning writer with a Brisbane Bucket-list and a desire to see it all and report back.

Take your family out and shoot them
Head on up to your bedroom and open up your over flowing cupboard of clothes. Search through the work outfits and sunny dresses to find yourself the oldest, daggiest outfit in there. This is what you what you will be wearing to your next paintball outing.
If you haven't been to a skirmish or paintball field yet, you must stick it on your Brisbane Bucket List and get going. A day on the fields is a must for people of any age and a basic level of fitness (my 50plus mum can attest to that) as you can choose to hide behind obstacles rather than run the rocky terrain or climb the manmade barracks.
I've had a few fantastic skirmishing experiences over the years but two stick out in particular.
Top Gun Paintball in Keperra is where I first found myself being shot at. I was 16 at the time and went with a group of mates from school. There were about 30 of us in total, and the hosts were more than equipped to deal with a large group. However you must call ahead! Nothing would be worse than organizing a gang together only to find out the fields had been booked out.
In our group there were 28 men and 2 ladies. So us girls were given the bathrooms to change into the supplied camo and breastplates, a necessary protection against those little stinging bullets.
Men must also be aware that often groin protection is not offered and ensure they pack their own. It was very funny for us girls to watch as one by one the boys realized that they were putting their family jewels in the firing line. After stories of previous male competitors doubling over and losing the contents of his stomach to the soil floor, we watched as they ran down to the local sports shop to buy a cup. Sports World made a killing that morning!
I next enjoyed the sting of those little bullets at my 21st Birthday Party at Skirmish Samford. I took my family and friends along for a day of fun, with a bit of revenge thrown in. My mother instantly joined the opposing team (a group of men on a bucks party) so she could shoot her loving daughter in the face. To all the ladies out there, be aware that the fashionable blue or red hair dos you are sporting make you an instant target on the field. I know my pink hair allowed my delightful mother to ensure I was covered in bruises by the opposing team.
A Birthday full of love, laughs and shooting each other.
Whilst these two arenas are close to my home suburb there are also many others out there close to you. Ipswich residences have Nation Paintball Fields just up the road. Those living on the Sunshine coast can shoot each other in Petrie and Northlakes residence can have their go at Mango Hill Skirmish.
Once you have had your day in the firing range make sure to show off your bruises. Wear them like a badge of honor!
