There's nothing quite like settling back with a drink and the latest release movie - or perhaps a favourite classic flick. Add in fresh air, warm Spring weather, and perhaps a beloved pooch or two, and you've got the perfect night out. American Express Openair Cinemas is bringing all this and more to Brisbane shortly, with more than 30 events running from 4 October to 11 November 2018. From home-grown comedy in The Merger to heart-stopping action in Mission Impossible: Fallout or nostalgic hits like Dirty Dancing, American Express Openair Cinemas will feature food, fun and flicks.

Fancy something to eat while you're watching? Salt Meats Cheese will be on deck to offer a delicious daily menu of antipasti and wood-fired pizzas. Film fanatics with a sweet tooth will be pleased to learn that Haagen Dazs will be scooping and serving ice-cream through the night. A range of drinks may also be purchased from partners 4Pines Beer, PIMMS, Giesen Wines and Black Devil Cider. But this is more than a mere food and movie experience. A festival atmosphere will reign supreme, with an array of alternative entertainment, live music and DJ performances lined up before each screening.

If you're attending alone (or even if you're not), 'Doggy Dates' allow film-goers the opportunity adopt a pooch during the movie on Wednesday nights - except for Halloween on 31 October. (Too scary for our furry friends.) All proceeds go to the RSPCA Queensland. Dog owners are also invited to BYO their canine pals to any screening - though it's important to remember that films featuring gunfire and explosions probably aren't suitable.

There are several seating options available, from bean bags to loungers, and blankets will be available to warm you up as you lie sprawled under the stars. Brisbane is the first stop of the Trans-Tasman American Express Openair Cinemas tour. Tickets are on sale now.
