Movies al fresco
Ben and Jerry's Openair Cinema is back for another year bringing "Lights. Camera. Action" to South Bank for yet another festival of film. This year's al fresco film lineup features "quirky comedies, retro classics, great Australian fare, award-winning features, new releases, premieres and sneak previews", and if that's not enough, there's entertainment, food, drinks, games, free ice cream for Sundae Sessions, and a place for your family pooch.

All the film fun kicks off with the gala opening session on Sunday 21 October and continues until 25 November. The Opening Night Charity Sundae Session features New Zealand bands, Kids of 88 and Avalanche City, and will screen the latest Aussie hit, The Sapphires. All proceeds from this night will go to OzHarvest, a charity organisation that collects excess food from the hospitality industry and gives it to those in need. You can read all about their work here.

Opening night also marks the first of the season's Sundae sessions. On all Sundays throughout the program everyone can indulge in free Ben and Jerry's ice cream along with the Sunday movie.

You'll find something from whatever movie genres are your favourites at this year's screenings. Dramas, thrillers, crime, rom-coms, cult classics and even documentaries all get a run. Offerings include Take this Waltz with Michelle Williams and Seth Rogan, Wes Anderson's tender Moonrise Kingdom, the wild Aussie surfing documentary Storm Surfers, the futuristic fantasy Looper, and cult classics like The Blues Brothers and Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
