Chill out or pep up your weekend with great jazz
The Brisbane Jazz Club at Kangaroo Point has some great gigs coming up this weekend. Jazz lovers can't do any better than this for a cheap night out with the best of jazz and stunning river views in this historic community club driven by those passionate about jazz.

Don't be fooled by the intimate club setting or low cost. These performers are world class award winning acts.

The line-up begins on Thursday night 31 May with the Sophie Min Quintet. Sophie is backed by tenor sax, acoustic bass, piano and drums. She and her band will be performing original works inspired by jazz traditions. This will be an intimate performance, a great way to kick off the weekend early. Sophie is an accomplished Korean-born singer, pianist and expert in improvisation.

Friday night 1 June brings a change of pace with the lively internationally acclaimed 6-piece Caxton Street Jazz Band who will be performing traditional jazz and New Orleans groove. Hot and swinging is the mood and the Club will be bouncing when this band hits the stage. The Brisbane based Caxton Street Jazz Band has been wowing audiences since its inception in the Baroona Hall, Caxton St in 1977 and is likely to continue to do so.

On Saturday 2 June, chill out to the elegant Sarah Collyer's seductive and hypnotic vocals. Sarah brings her unique jazz slant to well-known songs by Nick Cave, James Reyne, Blondie and the Eurythmics. Sarah has performed locally and globally. Sarah has been singing since her first choir at the age of 8. She played saxophone at 9, piano from 11 and as a child started writing her own songs. Today, as well as being an outstanding performer, Sarah is also a music and singing coach.

You can finish the weekend on Sunday 3 June with Miss Mandy Swings. This show will be sassy, fun and energetic. Miss Mandy puts on a show with flair as she and her band perform old favourites that you are sure to know: Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day, Bette Midler, Judy Garland and the list goes on. Miss Mandy is also an internationally renowned performer whose love of singing and dancing is infectious. You'll be sure to tap your toes and sing along to this one.
