They say laughter is the best medicine and after the dumpster fire that was 2020, we 'all' need a good belly laugh! So it's serendipitous that Brisbane's most innovative comedians and performers are coming together for the inaugural this summer!Presented by local comedy institution Big Fork Theatre, this exciting new festival is set to take over Ron Hurley Theatre and Seven Hills Hub for four spectacularly hilarious nights from 18th to 21st February 2021.The jam-packed program features 20 fun, fast, high-energy improv shows and 7 interactive workshops by the best comedians and improvisers from Brisbane and beyond.Improvised comedy (improv) is a hugely popular comedic art form, where everything is made up on the spot and witty one-liners flow thick and fast. Think Whose Line Is It Anyway or Thank God You're Here and celebrated comedians like Bill Murray, Will Ferrell, Kristen Wiig and Amy Poehler, who all got their start in improv.No one is better prepared to take the reins of this festival than the award-winning Big Fork Theatre, who since 2015 has produced weekly sold-out shows and grown to become the biggest improv company in Queensland.Brisbane audiences will be treated a fabulously diverse line-up of improv shows, including musicals, science fiction, true crime spoofs, and showcases bringing women, queer and multicultural performers to the fore. Improv is for absolutely everyone, including families, as there is even a show inviting parents to do improv alongside their kids!
