Saturday 29 Feb 2020 from 12pm to 5pm is when the Brisbane Holi - Festival of Colours will be celebrated at Rocks Riverside Park, 531 Seventeen Mile Rocks Rd, Seventeen Mile Rocks. Admission is FREE, but you need to get your FREE tickets online to secure your spot and to buy the colour packs as bringing your own is prohibited. See the event page for more information.
They start from $5 for 1 small colour pack, or $10 for a large. For a limited time or until sold old, whichever comes first, you can get a discounted 6 pack of the small colour pack for $20 ($10 savings) and the same for the first round colour 6 pack in a large for $40 ($20 savings).
Holi is one of the major festivals in India and celebrates good harvests and fertility of land. It also celebrates the eternal love of Radha and Krishna and victory of good over evil. It's about accepting everyone as one. People exchange sweets and snacks as no festivity in India is complete without delicious sweets. Come along to the festival as there's lots of fun to be had as you colour everyone equal. There'll be food stalls, performances and a host of surprises that add to the harmony and unity at the happiest and visually most colourful event of the BrisAsia Festival.
The BADC (Bollywood Australia Dance convention) Holi Dance Battles runs on the same day, (Sat 29 Feb) at the same venue from 2.15 to 2.50pm. Calling all passionate dancers to compete in knockout rounds, where the crowd decides who the ultimate champion will be. You need to SIGN UP ONLINE (watch out for event form to be released shortly via the event page, and if you have queries, you can interact via the discussion page). There's a cash prize of $250 and battles will be MC'd by BADC Producer and Professional Dance Artist Drea Lam.
