Traditional Morning High Tea at Stamford Plaza

Talk about being spoilt for choice at the
Stamford Plaza ! Stamford is almost as bad as
Bacchus for choice as they have a traditional Brisbane morning tea, the lobby afternoon high tea, the chocolate buffet high tea, my goodness, how does one decide?!
My advice, check the website, then call to book and have a chat as they are all offered on different days and at different times so some planning and a credit card on hand to confirm your booking is a must.
My sister took a couple of friends for their first ever high tea experience to the traditional Brisbane morning tea and sat outside overlooking the river. Some guests around us were finishing up their buffet breakfast so there was some traffic bustling around us as staff came and went to clean up but otherwise, it was a pleasant atmosphere.
Three of our party started on the lower level and enjoyed the sandwiches first. Dave, the only male in our group, decided to leave it for last and headed straight for the array of pretty little nuggets from the pastry chefs on top. Rookie error. By the time he satisfied his sweet tooth, his sandwiches were dry as sand paper and he failed to enjoy them**.
The tea was quality and we all chose something different. The pots were big enough that we could all sample each others which made a nice change from some other
one cup high teas we had been to previously.
The Stamford Plaza high tea was a lovely experience overall and we would recommend this one if you have posh visitors in town that may or may not be staying at the Stamford. It's a nod to all things lovely Brisbane river and weather.
**Note to newbies to the world of high teas - one must start either with scone level or snackie savoury things. There are a number of reasons for this - tiny tartlets go cold quickly, sandwiches with no crusts atrophy like clay in the sun and then there are tears all round. Never start with the sweetie treaties level.
