A fabulous event for gardeners with heaps of plants for sale
Brisbane Garden & Plant Expo will be Brisbane's brightest and best value gardening event. It will be a subtropical plant collector's paradise and one that any keen gardener or anyone wanting to learn about gardens, must attend!
There will be guest speakers, rare plants, landscape inspiration and family fun. The event will be held on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th March 2019, from 9.00 am until 4.00 pm. The venue will be the Doomben Racecourse, Hampden Street, Ascot.
The expo will feature both interstate and local horticultural people. There will be a massive 100 plus plant sellers and related garden products.
Included in these stalls will be items such as the following:
There will be a variety of speakers at this expo and some of them include:
Paul Plant, who you may know as he shares his wealth of gardening knowledge and experiences on radio, print and television.
Paul is most well-known for his involvement in the subtropical Gardening Magazine and gardening talkback programs on radio stations 4BC, NoosaFM, ABC Sunshine Coast, and RiverFM. Paul is a collector and grower of unusual plants and likes to inspire other gardeners to expand their growing experience to include ornamental, both native and non-native, and edible plants.
Paul is a registered Horticulturist (RH0096) and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Horticulture (FAIH).
Costa Georgiadis is a vibrant and much-loved host of the ABC Gardening Show. Costa is a colourful character who is a lover of nature, but perhaps above all else a teacher. His down-to-earth charismatic personality makes him popular with both adults and children alike.
Costa is a landscape architect and permaculturalist and he has a real passion for the future of food.
Hendrika Kwan is well known for two plant groups – orchids and chillies. These two plant groups are actually at the opposite ends of the spectrum. Orchids are colourful and pretty while chillies can be deadly if not prepared correctly!
Hendrika is the principal horticulturist of Plant Visionz which was founded in Singapore in 2012, Hendrika teaches people how to grow their food and orchids. An unusual feature about Hendrika is that in 2017, she began entering into competitive chilli eating and competitive eating to connect plants and people!
She has contributed towards several award-winning projects in the Singapore Garden Festival in the orchid show as well as landscape design.
Hendrika is now permanently based in Brisbane and grows very hot chillies while helping other people with their gardening skills.
You can find out more speakers and read all about them at this website.
For the Children
As well as this, so that the children do not get bored, there will be entertainment for them as well as for the adults. Many children also love gardening – growing flowers and food, playing with earthworms and chickens, and learning about nature.
Kids Zone 2019 is a place where children can learn more and expand their imagination in the garden.
Note: Children must have an accompanying adult with them at all times while at the Brisbane Garden & Plant Expo.
If food is your thing, then you are also very well catered for as you will be able to choose from many food stalls.
To access the venue, you will need to enter via the Gate 4 and 5 entrance, and there will be limited free parking at the site.
