Whether you are looking for some free fun, or wanting to see some amazing headline acts - there is something at this Festival for everyone.
Here are my picks of Brisbane Festival 2014 (in no particular order):
The Perfect American - Having received world-wide acclaim, iconic composer Philip Glass is coming to Brisbane. The Perfect American imagines the final months of Walt Disney's life though animated projections and design, and a fabulous Australian and international cast "…Promises to be the opera sensation of 2014" Matthew Westwood, The Weekend Australian.
LIMBO is sure to get your heart racing and your limbs limber! Witness this "dirty-dangerous circus-cabaret" who will whisk you into a world of contortion, aerial acrobatics, stunts and illusions. Running almost every night: there is no excuse to miss this one!
Miami Horror: How can you refuse a name like that. This psychedelic dance troop are set to return to their home soil. Combining dance-pop, progressive rock and modern production techniques this one is sure to get your toe tapping. With only one performance book now to avoid disappointment.
Midnight Juggernauts: are ready to celebrate with a spectacular 10-year anniversary show with their audio visual project AERIALS. With dance techniques on a vertical axis, I for one can't wait to see this Australian band combining unique sound and euphoric moves.
SOAP: returning after a sold out 2012 season this "suddy" contemporary performance fuses circus, comedy and cabaret with an eclectic, up-beat soundtrack. With all work in, on and around bathtubs this show always promises to entertain.
The Shadow King: This modern twist on Shakespeare's classic tragedy King Lear, this performances tells a tale of two Indigenous families in Australia's north. Telling this blood-soaked story through modern English, Kriol languages and live rock - this is a production is an epic and provocative piece.
