A month long love affair with fashion is in store for the whole of October 2018 at Brisbane's Fashion Month. Presented by Wintergarden, Brisbane's newest shopping mecca, this event is the largest showcase of Queensland designers in the state, with more local labels than any other event. If you're an up and coming designer, this event's creative competition could be the way to get discovered, take away great prizes, and have your collection on stage on 19 Oct at Queen St Mall runway series, as part of BFM (Brisbane Fashion Month).

Your prize also includes an overnight stay with breakfast at Next Hotel Brisbane during October, vouchers from The Fabric Store, Stefan gift pack and mentoring sessions at The New Garde, Brisbane. Click here for details.

How does a shopping trip to Hong Kong with a friend grab you? It's as simple as filling out a form. Your prize includes a $3000 Flight Centre gift voucher to be redeemed on your trip,

The BFM has grown over three years, and this year it has initiated the release of a new publication; The Pocket Guide to Brisbane Fashion. Distribution throughout inner Brisbane begins this month, and it'll be available at BFM events throughout October. It's your go-to guide to local designers and makers.

BFM events encompass multiple runway shows ranging from freebie at the Queen street Mall outside Wintergarden, to gala functions, and private events. Perhaps most prized is the Business Workshop presented by Australia Post on 20 October. Tickets sell out fast to this event that provides an opportunity to network and learn.

Attending will arm you with know-how to build your business, and give you insight into legal obligations, keeping track of sales and profits, gaining media exposure, opportunities in new markets and more. An expert list of speakers will share their knowledge on current best practice in fashion.

For all events and other information, check the website and Facebook. event pages where you'll also find updates and snippets of conversation. With ethics and sustainability a big focus, the Forum on 19 Oct features Australian fashion brands keeping it Australian and ethical. Explore some of the challenges and opportunities faced, taking this road, plus learn about the approaches taken by the industry to make fashion more sustainable.

The Resort Finale Showcase on the last day in October is the night of nights. Resort glamour and high-end designer fashion as only Queensland knows how is the pinnacle of this event. Tickets include a three hour food and beverage package, so dress to impress and get set for a memorable evening under the stars. From beginning to end and everything in between, there's plenty to engage with and learn from at the BFM!
