The city that is in a league of its own and is prominent when it comes to the arts scene is keeping its residents entertained to see in the first month of Spring in 2012. Following on from predominantly arts based events in August, Brisbane in September is paving the way for the amazing ride in its wave of annual events.
The top events are as follows, and are not presented in any particular order:
1. Sunday Mail Suncorp Bridge to Brisbane
Bris Vegas is also popular when it comes to fun run events for charity. People love competing in such events, even if the Bridge to Brisbane happens to fall on fathers day this year. You can either compete in the 5km or the 10km run. The 10km course begins at the Sir Leo Hielscher Bridge and finishes at the RNA Showgrounds. The 5km course commences at Hamilton. A spectacular display of light and fireworks. Circus, musical, opera, comedy and theatre events will be on show from the 6th to the 29th of September. Further information on the festival can be found by clicking here.
Fortitude Valley comes alive with the annual Bigsound music festival. Now in its 11th year, some of the country's and the world's top independent musical acts come to Brisbane. Such music acts perform at some of Fortitude Valley's top pubs and clubs over two amazing days. Bigsound will be on from the 12th to the 14th of September. 4. Mater Dei Wine and Seafood Raceday
This is where seafood, wine and the races come together in style at the Brisbane Racing Club, Doomben on the 15th of September. Entertainment, activities, tasting plates, drinks vouchers and a prawn peeling competition is included in the ticket price. The entertainment line up includes jazz. Lucky door prizes are also on offer.
5. Straddie Salute Multisport Festival
Brisbane triathletes, eat your heart out. One of Brisbane's most popular triathon events. Triathletes compete for cash prizes, and spot prizes are also available. A great escape the city experience on the weekend of the 15th and 16th of September on Stradbroke Island.
6. Tender Napalm
La Boite has done it again. A thought provoking theatre experience. It is all about love. You will think twice about the true meaning of love after seeing this play. On at La Boite from the 21st of September to the 5th of October.
