This is the best month for festivals because this month is warm and kind, allowing us to experience nice subtle changes in colour and temperature before being hit with the summer heat.

[ADVERT]The BIG event and the longest of the three covered below is of course the The Brisbane Festival, running for most of the month with plenty to you keep you occupied.

1: Brisbane Festival, 8 - 29 September

Experience a smorgasboard of cultural and artistic events and entertainment hosted across several arts and cultural venues including QPAC, Brisbane Powerhouse , QUT Festival Theatre and South Bank Parklands .

So much going on and a lot to check out during this festival, however I'll highlight a couple of main events from this festival below;

The Courier-Mail Spiegeltent opens in South Bank's Cultural Forecourt, as an entertainment venue presenting talent from Australia and around the world.

This stunning entertainment arena will become the ultimate venue to unwind and enjoy some of the best talent Australia and the world has to offer. Expect contemporary music, including pop, rock, folk, hip-hop, jazz, comedy and cabaret talents talents from La Soirée.

View the Courier-Mail Spiegeltent entertainment program for all info.

Santos GLNG City of Lights Show illuminating Brisbane in a brand new laser light and special effects show each night over three weeks of the festival is always amazing to watch.

Event Closure, Sunsuper Riverfire - 29 September
A favourite part of the festival each year, as you get to prepare for the closing night extravaganza. Early planning is needed to find your spot amongst the crowds. Find out where to find the best vantage points from the program information here .

Search all events on the main Brisbane Festival Website .

2: Writers Festival, 5-9 September

Bringing together thousands of readers, writers, and researchers looking for inspirational ideas, this event is for novices and experienced writers and offers workshops and masterclasses, most of which are ticketed. The list A-Z of writers featuring at this event can be found By Writer here .

During the writers festival, the younger (four to 12 years) readers and illustrators are also catered for under a program called Word Play Word Play .
Venues for the Writers Festival include, the State Library of Qld, QPAC (Queensland Performing Arts Centre), GOMA, (Gallery of Modern Art), and Queensland Art Gallery.

3: Celebrate Redcliffe Festival, 15-16 September

Two days of celebration on the penninsula over the weekend so get ready for some action packed fun by the seaside.

As part of this event, the offshore superboat championships are held on Saturday, 15th of September (10am - 2pm). With these boats reaching speeds of up to 250km an hour the ocean will come alive with 20 competing superboats for an amazing spectacle performance to satisfy the onlookers.

On Sunday 16th of September, there is a Street Fiesta during the day along Redcliffe Parade where there will be markets, entertainers and buskers and a 'kids zone' area.

Sounds like a fun time to be beside the seaside and Redcliffe Penninsular is always a nice spot to spend time. See Celebrate Redcliffe website for details.
