Published January 23rd 2018

Shapes are the main foundation of all drawings. Once you have mastered drawing a closed line, you'll be able to draw anything!

Discover more of Brisbane's landmarks through an artist's eyes, and learn other fun drawing facts with Classie's 'Brisbane Drawing for Beginners'.

Join a friendly and experienced Classie instructor who will take a small group on a leisurely walk through Brisbane's bustling Southbank offering personalised guidance, tips and tricks so you can continue building your drawing skills at home.

This fun workshop is designed for all skill levels and no previous artistic experience is required.

Alternating each week, try your hand at various drawing techniques, either on a walking class, or at a sit-down venue:
- Pencil landscapes - Saturdays, walking;
- Pastels still-life - Sundays, sit-down;
- Charcoal landscapes - Saturdays, walking;
- Portraits any media - Sundays, sit-down;

The walking classes for Pencil and Charcoal are comprised of mini drawing classes at unique locations around Brisbane, capturing what you see from direct observation onto paper. Each location is specifically chosen by the host, whether it be for a great view, a particularly interesting landmark, or the opportunity for a lesson in technique.

The sit-down classes for Pastel and Portrait are held at one venue for the duration of the class, and allow you the opportunity to really concentrate on learning and practicing your new skills with Pastel and Portrait drawing.

Participants will explore either an interesting landmark or have the opportunity to participate in a mini drawing class centring on a specific technique. For example, you may focus on shapes and proportion while drawing a portrait; develop light, tone and value skills when capturing a still life image; or concentrate on shading, angles and the rules of third in a landscape.

A variety of materials will be provided on the day including sketch paper, charcoal, pastels, pens and pencils and a complimentary beverage, with the option to purchase additional food or drink.
