Capture your love on film (or SD card at least)
The popularity of engagement photo shoots have sky rocketed in the last few years, but who says you need to be engaged to have stunning images of your relationship caught on film? You simply need to find the right location and the right person to capture the moments, and thanks goodness there are a multitude of amazing and capable photographers filling Brisbane with perfectly framed images.

Choosing a photographer who makes you feel comfortable mid-kiss is important and you want to make sure you are getting your money's worth, so don't book until you have done some background research. Jump online and search for reviews, give them a call to make sure your personalities click, but most importantly ensure they take the type of photos you want. Perhaps you prefer the soft romantic look, or maybe you are after some classic clean portraits, if you don't view at least view a couple of their different shots you may end up very disappointed.

My partner and I recently had a lovely experience with Rachelle from Belleza Portraits who guided and directed our poses, whilst still ensuring to capture the special and spontaneous moments. Her skills were evident, as it only took us 30mins out of our day for the shoot and we have ended up with a variety of images with different backgrounds, different poses and different focuses.

Check out her tips on what to wear for your not-so-big big day.

The next crucial decision to make is to choose the location. First decide on whether you want your images to feature urban skylines, like those at Kangaroo Point or South Bank, or whether you would prefer the greens and blues of natural landscapes to help your outfits pop.

Brisbane is full to the brim with gorgeous parks to feature in the background from the perfectly manicured plants at the Botanical Gardens all the way out to the mangroves at Nudgee Beach. I loved having the calm waters of Redland Bay featured in our recent shoot, but we have also previously had images taken at Seventh Brigade Park behind Chermside, which is a little more local, and just as beautiful.

Just make sure that if you choose an urban area you don't get squeamish about kissing in public!

I implore all the young couples (and perhaps the long-married ones) to update the space on your walls with photographs that celebrate your love. You can't possibly regret it!

And who knows, maybe you will be engaged soon, and you will be grateful you've already found a top-notch photographer.
