Get ready for monster trucks, ultimate utes and cool bikes.
Saturday 26 October marks the 4th annual Brisbane Convoy for Kids and this year's show is set to be the biggest and best yet.
Established in 1989, Convoy for Kids was started by John Moran and David Gaudron who have since raised more than four million dollars for children's charities from about 240 convoys. The Brisbane event was reignited in 2010 and since then, $87,000 have been donated to various charities. This year, all funds raised will go to Riding for the Disabled Association of Queensland, whose mission is to give people with disabilities full access to sporting and therapeutic equestrian programs in order to improve their quality of life.
From Larapinta on Brisbane's south side, the convoy will head to Redcliffe Showground, where there will be lots of fun for everyone. Full day of live music, stalls of goodies, displays of trucks, utes and bikes, beautiful fireworks, rides and food and drink to keep you busy and your stomach full.
Here is a little sneak peak of what's on at this year's event.
Win some dandy stuff at the auction, witness the recovery of a monster truck roll over, meet and greet your beloved mega truckers, and be the best at dummy spitting. That's right. There is a dummy spitting competition so if you have amazing spitting skills and are not afraid of being laughed at, then sign up at the merchandise stand on the day. What's more, take a ride in the road trains around the Showground and don't forget to check out the double road train and the triple road train. There will be so much more to see and do so make sure you check out the website for their program.
If you think you have a bit of strength, then why not register for the Truck Pull competition? For your chance to win that gleaming trophy, get a team together, pull that truck, bribe that judge, and cheat your way to the top. Click here for more information about this super fun competition.
Of course, there will be rides galore at Brisbane Convoy for Kids so fasten your seatbelts and have the ride of your life. For those who love a bit of thrill, then get on the Cobra, or take out the baddies at Laser Skirmish. Jumping castles, tram rides, ferris wheel and laughing clowns will also be making an appearance. So it doesn't matter how old you are, you're guaranteed to have a whole heap of fun. Now, to make sure that you get the best value, all day unlimited ride passes are available for only $30. Otherwise rides start from $5 per ride.
So, this is just a sneak preview of what's going on. Make sure you keep checking their website for updates on what's happening.
