While visiting Brisbane City, I accidentally came across a food-only market in Cathedral Square opposite St Stephens Cathedral. It's on every Thursday.



I was very impressed with both with the quality and variety of food available. On my first pass through on my way to the ferry, I had a breakfast snack. Who can resist a fresh authentic Portuguese Tart! There were three varieties to choose from too, but I stuck to the original taste. At the stand, there was an information board with the origins of the name. I was delighted to find out this as I have often eaten these tarts both in China and Hong Kong where they are extremely popular.



On my return it was lunchtime so the place had become very crowded especially with local workers. Finding somewhere to sit out of the hot sun was a challenge. I purchased two banana loaves to take away with me. Again, I had a choice of flavours.



For lunch, I chose a Turkish Gozleme, always my favourites. If you are in the city on Thursday I highly recommend this market for food even though there are many many eating establishments nearby.
