Inner city living doesn't have to mean sacrificing farm fresh food, thanks to Brisbane City Markets.

The Brisbane City Markets was created with the purpose to bringing the country to the city. Each week, the markets are a conduit between officer workers and inner city latte sippers, and farmers, producers, bakers, fishermen and other fresh food suppliers.

So big they're spread across two locations over two days, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Every Wednesday, the markets at Reddacliff Plaza (266 George Street at the end of Queen Street Mall) serve up meals, groceries, and other delicious provisions from 8am 6pm. On Thursdays from 8am 2.30pm, Cathedral Square (410 Ann Street corner of Ann and Wharf Street) hosts a smaller, more laid back version.

Some notables stallholders at the markets include:

The Little Gingerbread Cottage selling novelty gingerbread using an old German family recipes,
Cute, low maintenance indoor plants from Mad Plant Lady,
The Vegery's range of vegetarian and vegan meals, and
3 Dogs and a Bone Treats, serving man's best friend.

With both markets offering a range of organic products, meats and seafood, artisan baked goods, and exhibits from sustainability experts, as well as live music in a scenic location, this is the perfect event for a midweek chilled out picnic.

Please visit the Brisbane City Markets website if you are interested in become a stallholder or performer.
