Create your own unique adventure in the suburbs of Brisbane

Are you ready for an adventure, one where you're the hero? Along the way you'll encounter mermaids, lagoon monsters, magic paintings and a ghost or two (or few)?

Good news is the adventure is waiting for you, and you need to look no further than the suburbs of Brisbane. Brisbane City Council's Street Reads is 'an interactive walking and reading experience' and they've brought the fun to Sandgate, Woolloongabba and Dutton Park.

Street Reads is much like a choose-your-own-adventure story, except that the 'pages' of the story are scattered around the suburbs of Brisbane – making each story physically interactive, getting you to walk to different locations to unlock each scene.

The adventures are all digital (audio narration or visual reading text is available) – you just need to download (for free!) the Story City App (available via the Brisbane City Council or Street Reads website) onto your smart phone or tablet before the adventure can begin. Good news is, if you don't have Wi-Fi or the Internet on your device you can pre-download the story (via the App) – but be sure to configure the story before you leave, with instructions available on the Street Reads website (general instructions for how to use the App are also available on this website).

In Sandgate, discover The Curse of the Bramble Spirit (G Rating). The adventure begins at Sandgate train station. You soon learn that a ghost ship, Bramble Spirit, has been spotted sailing the waters in Bramble Bay – but, no worries, you are a seasoned Ghost Hunter and you're specialty is removing destructive and restless spirits. So this should be a piece of cake, or will this be your testing limit? As the adventure progresses you will find out how the Bramble Spirit met its doom, battle paranormal forces and save Sandgate from the ship's deadly curse…or perhaps you won't be so lucky. It's up to you to find out!

At Woolloongabba you can experience The Great 'Gabba Mystery (PG) – an adventure that starts at Logan Road Police Beat, as you are a private investigator. You're here to catch a thief and solve the case. Along the way you'll encounter getaway cars, gangsters, goddesses and aliens, which are all swept up within this glamorous noir adventure.

At Dutton Park you can experience The Escape of Bloggo – Creature of Maiwar (M15 ). The adventure starts at Boggo Road Jail – a monster is on the loose, and as a journalist this is your kind of story. Particularly because all hell has broke loose – turns out Bloggo is a deadly swap creature who was born in the flood of '74. Brisbane's safety is in your hands, who will and can you trust? It's up to you to solve the case!

Whatever adventure you choose two things are certain:
1. You will have a great time!
2. The adventure will be your unique experience – you can make it to be whatever your heart desires.

And, an added bonus, Street Reads is fun for the whole family. Each story has a specific rating, most are 10 , but it is suitable for younger families with parental supervision.

Street Reads also has prizes on offer, including a grand prize at the end of the year – they will also be providing discounts to local stores for each person who finishes an adventure. For more information please visit the Street Reads website or like Street Reads on Facebook.

And, if you are keen for more Street Reads fun, never fear for there are additional adventures available (six in total) – all six start in Reddacliff Place in Brisbane City. More information is available on the Street Reads website here.

All up Street Reads is worth the dedication of a morning, afternoon or evening – you will have fun and learn about the historical and interesting parts of Brisbane, definitely an adventure worth having. So get involved! Who knows what magical things you will experience?
