You are doing your city a disservice if you have never seen the Brisbane Broncos live. The National Rugby League (NRL) receives a lot of bad press in the media but the only thing that should matter is the game itself.

I've been a Broncos fan since I was 8 years old. I remember once being taken into the dressing sheds after a game to meet my idol Allan Langer. Since then I have attended games regularly. A day at the footy can be awe inspiring. Imagine a massive crowd of maroon and yellow screaming and cheering. When a Bronco touches down for a try it can bring tingles down your spine. The atmosphere is electric.

Located in Milton, Suncorp Stadium has to be in contention for the best stadium in Australia. The Cauldron has been the home to some of the greatest matches in rugby league history. The beauty of Suncorp Stadium is that there isn't a bad seat in the house.

NRL is a winter sport and the season starts in early March and concludes in late September. Bronco's season memberships are a good option with a range of packages available to all ages and budgets. More information can be found at their website .

General admission tickets range from $11 to $52 depending on your age and where you would like to sit. Pre-purchasing your tickets online through Ticketek or at one of their outlets will entitle you to free transport to and from the game.

One of the biggest complaints about the footy is the prices of food and drink. A meal for a family could very well set you back over $50. A pie typically costs around $5, a bottle of coke $4 and about $0.20 for sauce to go with it. One good option would be to attend the handily located McDonalds at Milton before the game or catch the train to the city to feast at one of Brisbane's many restaurants. Commercial food is not allowed to be taken into the stadium and neither are bottles or cans. For those of you wanting to have a drink, a beer will set you back around $6-7 while spirits are also $7.

Once you're at the game there is entertainment for all ages. Gates typically open three hours before kick-off. The U20s game is played before the NRL match, and these are usually entertaining, high scoring affairs. Then it's time for the main event. At half time the kids from junior competitions across Queensland get a chance to run on the field where their heroes play. There are also various promotions running throughout the day with the opportunity to take home cash and prizes.

A day with the Broncos can be enjoyable for people of all ages. Whether its families, couples, or groups of friends, a day at the footy is one you won't soon forget.
