Here, at WeekendNotes, we've already told you about Brisbane's Best Mother's Day Breakfasts, Brunches and Buffets , as well as Quirky Mother's Day Events , for mums who might appreciate something a little different. But now it's time for my particular favourite - high teas. There's something about the elegance and simplicity of high tea that just screams Mother's Day, and Brisbane has many fine options for your mum this year.

The high teas on the list below still have bookings available at the time of writing, but get in quickly, they're bound to be popular.

Mother's Day Veuve Clicquot Garden Party at Treasury Hotel

With a fine day and a top temperature of 24° forecast for Mother's Day, high tea al fresco with Parisian style sounds like a good idea. Your mum can indulge her taste buds at this French-inspired event in the beautiful courtyard of Treasury Hotel. There's live entertainment to complement the delectable food, which includes salmon en croute, éclairs and swan choux pastry, and petite fours. And we can't forget the Veuve Clicquot champagne.

High Tea with Queensland Ballet at Sofitel

Sofitel's Mother's Day high tea is a bit of a Brisbane legend. As a sponsor of Queensland Ballet, Sofitel presents a performance by Queensland Ballet as an accompaniment to the excellent food and sparkling wine. With a menu that includes a range of sandwiches and scones and scrumptious sweet treats like lemon meringue mousse and frosted chocolate fudge cake, mum is going to love this one. You can also upgrade to a Platinum package with Mumm Cordon Rouge champagne (how appropriate), preferential seating, and a surprise gift for mum. And if your mum loves the ballet she can also meet and greet the dancers for a photo opportunity after their performance (additional fee of $25 and limited tickets).

Mother's Day Lobby High Tea at Stamford Plaza Brisbane

Stamfod Plaza's high teas are renowned throughout Brisbane. This Mother's Day you and mum can indulge in ribbon sandwiches, scones and a range of sweet treats, all presented on a beautiful tiered stand.

When: Sunday 13 May. 2 sessions: 10am to 12noon and 3.30pm to 5.30pm

Pretty in Pink Mother's Day High Tea at Sazerac Rooftop Bar and Lounge

This high tea is very high indeed. Sazerac Bar at Four Points is Brisbane's highest bar at 30 levels above street level. And the bonus with this special Mother's Day event is that $2 from every ticket purchased for this high tea will go to the McGrath Foundation. Mum can wear pink and partake of the goodies on a high tea stand, together with tea or coffee and a glass of either watermelon blush martini or a premium red or white wine or non-alcoholic pink grapefruit punch.
