With New Year's Day only just behind us, many families are already planning their Australia Day celebrations. Fortunately, there is a multitude of family-friendly events in and around Brisbane. Read below for some recommendations.

1. Oxley Community Festival26 January, 1pm to late, Club OxleyThis free entry event is jam-packed with fun for the whole family including free rides, face painting, a giant splash pool and games. Bring a picnic blanket, purchase dinner from a food truck and be entertained by live music and a fireworks display.Bookings are not required.



2. Bulimba Big Bash26 January, 12-6pm, Bulimba Golf ClubThis annual event is popular with local families, boasting a live DJ, waterslide and jumping castle. Challenge members of your family with thong throwing and sack races, or simply watch in amusement. Secure your free entry ticket here .



3. Australia Day Crab Races26 January, 11am, Jim Lawrie Oval (Brighton)Family members will be delighted with crab races, amusement rides, games and food trucks. Bring a picnic blanket to enjoy the evening firework display.Free entry , bookings not required.

4. Australia Day 202326 January, 2pm, Bellbowrie Sports & Community ClubFollowing an Australian Citizenship ceremony, the Karana Bellbowrie Rotary will host an event featuring rides, live performances and food trucks. The night will culminate with a firework show.Free entry, RSVP here .



5. Australia Day Celebration26 January, 10am-3pm, Hanlon Park (Stones Corner)The park will be a hive of community activity with rides, an animal farm, face painting and competitions. More relaxing options include watching cooking demonstrations, listening to live music or sampling from one of the food trucks.Free entry , bookings not required.



6. Family Funday26 January, 12-3pm, Hamilton HotelEnjoy a relaxing meal whilst the children are entertained by a free magic show, animal farm and face painting.Make a dining reservation by calling 07 3268 7500.
