Spend the upcoming public holiday with the whole family
With New Year's Day only just behind us, many families are already planning their Australia Day celebrations. Fortunately, there is a multitude of family-friendly events in and around Brisbane. Read below for some recommendations.

1. Oxley Community Festival

26 January, 1pm to late, Club Oxley

This free entry event is jam-packed with fun for the whole family including free rides, face painting, a giant splash pool and games. Bring a picnic blanket, purchase dinner from a food truck and be entertained by live music and a fireworks display.

Bookings are not required.

2. Bulimba Big Bash

26 January, 12-6pm, Bulimba Golf Club

This annual event is popular with local families, boasting a live DJ, waterslide and jumping castle. Challenge members of your family with thong throwing and sack races, or simply watch in amusement.

3. Australia Day Crab Races

26 January, 11am, Jim Lawrie Oval (Brighton)

Family members will be delighted with crab races, amusement rides, games and food trucks. Bring a picnic blanket to enjoy the evening firework display.

4. Australia Day 2023

26 January, 2pm, Bellbowrie Sports & Community Club

Following an Australian Citizenship ceremony, the Karana Bellbowrie Rotary will host an event featuring rides, live performances and food trucks. The night will culminate with a firework show.

5. Australia Day Celebration

26 January, 10am-3pm, Hanlon Park (Stones Corner)
