See the Christmas Decorations @ Brisbane's Oldest Arcade
Brisbane's oldest and one of its most beautiful boutique haute couture shopping spaces, The Brisbane Arcade is celebrating Christmas with an outstanding FREE installation of festive decorations.
A trip to the City is not complete without visiting the splendid Brisbane Arcade - a narrow, charming, heritage-listed laneway shopping precinct connecting Queen Street and Adelaide Street.
With boutique, high-end shops like DARB bridal couture, Stones Jewellers and The Pen Shoppe being long-term retailers of the Arcade this is a place of unmissable elegance and old-school style. Diamonds, jewels, marble, and oak are in abundance in this narrow arcade.
As shopping and architectural trends have changed, the Arcade has maintained its reign as the place of choice for the glamorous and sophisticated shopper and those visitors who just want to wander and admire the sparkles from the windows.
The Arcade opened in 1924 and was designed in the Edwardian baroque style
This year, the Arcade has dressed for the Christmas occasion in a glow of lights, glittering baubles and glorious trees to say the festive season is here. Visitors and shopping are welcome to stroll through the arcade and view this FREE exhibit of festive cheer.
The display includes oversized, ornamented Christmas trees clustered into groups of 3. Wreaths overhead at the entrances.
From the Ground Floor level, look up and you will find a cascade of lights, lots of twinkling lights over the rails of the wooden second floor wrap around balconies. The original lead lights of the building make the perfect backdrop for the lights as they bounce additional colour.
