A woman of many talents.

Read a little about Alice Pung and you will find she is an incredibly interesting woman. One doesn't normally think of law and art in the same sentence, but she is a writer, editor and a practicing solicitor, who has worked as an art instructor, independent school teacher at primary and secondary schools and has been an Artist in Residence.

She is currently Author in Residence at Brisbane Square Library.

Meet Alice Pung.

Pung's first book, "Unpolished Gem", which tells of how it is to be an immigrant fleeing danger, won the 2007 Newcomer of the Year Award in the Australian Book Industry Awards. Her follow-up memoir, Her Father's Daughter, was published in 2011. She also edited "Growing Up Asian in Australia."

Have a look at her website. It is engaging and informative and I have no doubt you will be rushing out to buy or borrow her books.

On Friday 28th of February, you can hear her speak as part of the BrisAsia Festival AND it's free.

I can't wait to hear this amazing young woman.
