Hello, I am a comedian who has spent the last two years in the Brisbane comedy scene building grudges and working out who to shun and who to adore. Allow me to highlight the best solo shows as determined by me and the authority I bring (a totally biased set of tastes and opinions). Disclaimer: I haven't seen the shows yet as I don't want any evidence to cloud my judgement but I can confidently recommend them on the impressive work of the performers.

1. Swimming The Seas Of Failure- Jasmine Fairbairn
Just because Jasmine Fairbairn is a begrudging mother to two boys doesn't mean her show isn't the most relatable and hilarious thing you'll see this festival. An alumni of Loose Moose improv theatre in Calgary and a breakaway success on the Brisbane stand up scene (Raw Comedy finalist) she will make you inhabit the FML of a mother of two in the suburbs in a way you didn't know you wanted and can't wait to escape.

2. Stick Creature- Ashwin Segkar
I've got tickets to the July 15th show so if you don't like it you can tell me personally but you will love it and I'm happy to hear all praise of my excellent taste. I've seen Ashwin reduce his audience to tears with a deadpan delivery of mentally delightful concepts. He's on ABC 612 quite a lot now so jump on board before he gets ABC famous and you have to queue for up to 3 minutes to experience his low-key awkwardness up close.

3. You're On A List- Michael Connell
I've worked with Michael and I can confidently say he 'meets expectations'. If you don't have any then he's sure to exceed them. A confident juggler he has a lot to prove socially and I'm sure his impressive experience as a former radio presenter and nationally recognised comic won't reduce his eager and acrobatic witticisms and observations. 4. Shucks- Jordan Kadell
Jordan is insanely delightful and immediately made me want to be her buddy. She's effortlessly interesting and owns her unique style and approach to life. If you don't like it, it's you not her. But you will- just check it out already.

5. Not Here To Make Friends- Lauren Randall
Lauren is legitimately eager to please so I can assure you she is defo needy and will appreciate your presence at her debut solo show. She's also legit funny and will happily humiliate herself to overshare for your amusement. She made me laugh so hard I cried out my nostrils. She's both a super chill 'cool girl' and your worst nightmare but very good value- check out the show.

Special mentions also go to Sam Bowden's The Epicurean Shark https://www.facebook.com/events/1075247909244019/ and Jack Gramenz The Truth About Jack Gramenz https://www.facebook.com/events/227579104427555/ but they are hot young things so they don't need my approval.

If you would prefer to make your own opinions check out the Bris Funny Fest Facebook https://www.facebook.com/brisfunnyfest/ and book into your favourite shows ASAP- they are sure to sell out!
