Okay, we have set the bar pretty high with Parkway Drive and their ten year anniversary tour, but when we're talking about modern rock music, we also have to mention Bring Me the Horizon. Since they've started playing in 2004, this band became one of the determinants in teen trends across the planet.

A While Back

It all started in the UK in 2004, when Oliver Sykes and the other members of the band joined up forces to play metal music. Back then the scene was different and Bring Me the Horizon quickly emerged from the ocean of other bands in this genre. Music wasn't what helped them do that, though. What set off Bring Me the Horizon was a social media site called Myspace. Until Facebook rose in 2008, Myspace was the main network for millions of people many of who teenagers. These guys were something more of a boy band, just like N-Sync or Backstreet Boys, rather than heavy metal one.

Their style has changed significantly throughout the years, though. In their first album, the genre was brutal death metal. Then by the help of the Australian guitarist, Jona Weinhofen, the sound changed, and become much more melodic and easy to listen. Of course, for the metal fans. Recently, he left the band and gave his place to Jordan Fish - keyboard player. He brought his own particular pinch to the compound which leads us to the present days.

Today

Bring Me the Horizon have released Sempiternal, which had a lot of electro elements and clear singing, unlike their previous things. They have found the formula to success once again with this album and it sold around 50 thousand copies. They have outgrown the period of being a boy band and are something more than just a teenage dream.

So what makes them so special? One of the main reasons for the band to be so popular is their vocalist Oliver Sykes. At first sight you might get shocked of his appearance really skinny and covered from head to toes in tattoos. In fact, you can't tell where his t-shirt ends and his skin begins. Not only that, but when you get to know him, you will see that this guy is actually really introverted and prefers being alone, writing his stories, or drawing his sketches. On stage you will see none of that. He transforms in something completely different a person full of energy and confidence. A person who leads thousands of people to do stupid things; jumping in the crowd and all of that while singing. Not only that, but Oliver Sykes has his own clothing company that does pretty good too.

Partying to a Bring Me the Horizon song, if you're actually into this kind of music is pretty amazing. Carpet cleaners in Melbourne recommend you put away your carpet and any precious belongings somewhere safe if you are actually doing this, because in the video of their song 'Chelsea Smile 'you can see just how hardcore a Bring Me the Horizon party can be.

In Australia there are five dates announced. October 5th - Brisbane. 6th - Sydney. 9th - Melbourne. 10th - Adelaide. 12th - Perth. Go give them a listen if you're into extreme experiences. You are not going to regret it.
