Fancy yourself a writer? Are you a resident, or do you work or study in the Brimbank municipality? Do you have a young one at home who is an aspiring young writer? Celebrate the National Year of Reading with this yearly competition.

Why not submit, or have your young writer submit a short story, prose poem or some other creative writing piece to the Brimbank Writers Awards. The Awards are free to enter and there are cash prices up for grabs.

The Awards are already open and submissions are being accepted and Shortlisters notified by email by the 7 September 2012. All finalists are invited to attend the presentation ceremony on 28 September 2012.

The judges include; Tony Birch, a short story fiction writer and Amy Espeseth, a writer as well as publisher at Vignette Press.
To coincide with the Awards, Brimbank Council is also offering free workshops to get your writing to its best. Details on their websites.
