Brightly coloured kites of all shapes, designs and sizes will welcome you at the Brimbank Kite Festival and the best thing is you too can have a go at participating at this event. Be transported back to your childhood and show off to your kids or grandkids whilst teaching them the basic kite maneuvering skills. There is nothing like the feeling of when your kite is picked up by a a bit of wind and takes off up into the sky. Of course, then you have to keep it up there and make sure it doesn't crash!
The 9th Brimbank Kite Festival takes place on 24th November from 12 noon -5 pm. It's a free public event, a great family day and you can even learn to make the 'Simplest kite in the world', watch some local performances and have a great family time out. You can BYO kites, buy one from the organiser, or if you are under 10 get one of the limited free kites following the Opening Ceremony at 12 noon. A sausage sizzle, ice cream, fairy floss, and coffee will be on hand to keep you sustained.
If you are really keen and want to be inspired before the actual festival day, pop down to the free kite exhibition and kite making demonstration in partnership with Sydenham Neighbourhood House on the 8th of November.
The new location for this year's Brimbank Kite Festival is at the St. Albans Sports Club which is at 96A Gillespie Rd. Kings Park,
