This year Brighton Jetty Classic Sculptures is celebrating its 10 year anniversary at Brighton. This FREE annual event draws hundreds of families, individuals of all ages, art-enthusiasts and the curious kinds, to this trendy little section of Adelaide.

The exhibition features over 160 works of art, with both indoor and outdoor pieces. The intriguing, wacky, and adorn-worthy works are from artists from all over Australia. There is a 'people's choice' competition that you can partake in by simply voting for your favourite - winner to be announced February 5 (Brighton Jetty Classic) at 11am. Additionally, there is an array of other competition categories; indoor piece, outdoor sculpture, young artist, emerging artist, and environmental theme. The winners for these categories are selected by the chosen art curators. Works are being judged on quality, creativity, innovation, technical expertise, and standards of production. The prizes for all categories total a whopping $20,500!

If you fall in love with a piece and cannot walk away, you need not worry as the pieces are up for purchase as well. You can take home (once the exhibition has finished) a brand spanking, one-of-a-kind piece of art (#winning). The funds raised will help support the artists, as well as the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club.

So now you've got your keen jeans on for this event, do you need some more details?

The event is based at the Brighton Surf Life Saving Club, corner of Bindarra Avenue and Esplanade; it is here that you find all your indoor magic. There is also a 'sculpture walk' that extends along the Esplanade between Beach Road, and Dunluce Avenue (including Bindarra Reserve).

A big marquee will be set up in Bindarra Reserve with some committee representatives present to answer all you sculpture queries, provide general event information, and to take your 'people's choice' nominations.

The event runs from January 25th until February 5th; with the indoor component open from 8am until 8pm Monday-Sunday, and the outdoor section accessible anytime between the aforementioned dates.

Accessibility: there is a wide pedestrian path along the esplanade that is suitable for prams, wheelchairs, and similar. The Brighton Surf Life Saving club provides both elevator and stairwell access to the upper level, home of the indoor works.

I suggest a mid-week gander as weekends are quite incredibly busy and car parking turns into a bit of a battle. Allow yourself a good 3-4 hours to admire all the works, with a short interval for a coffee or sweet pit-stop at one of the numerous lovely local eateries. See you by the beach.

N.B. The Brighton Jetty Classic Sculptures event is associated with the Brighton Jetty Classic; South Australia's largest open water swimming event - February 5th.
