Charlie's Bistro at Brighton Hotel, Brighton

When I was on holiday in Queensland, I met up with some friends at the Brighton Hotel, Brighton. The hotel bistro has just been re-furbished. The bistro is named Charlie's. It's a big dining area with half a caravan resting against one wall. It's a decoration. I'm not sure of the significance of the caravan.
Charlie's Bistro was re-furbished just recently and re-opened on the 7th April 2016. As I already stated, there is a caravan sitting in the wall in the Bistro. After a bit of research I found out that Charlie's Bistro feels strongly about Caravaners who take on the road. Read their dedication below:
The Story"%%The family caravan trip became a common way to holiday in the 1950s through to the turn of the century. A home on wheels towed behind the family car, often rented or owned by a lucky few. How much easier than camping, what a luxury! Still today a real icon of the road.
Before cheap airfares, mobile phones and digital communication, caravan holidays were when the family came together in close quarters and learned about the simple joys in life. The shower block, shared facilities and respecting your neighbours a few feet away with just the thin walls of the caravan and an annexe separating you.
Dedicated caravaners still travel the road but in lesser numbers. They're generally known as "grey nomads" but we know they are anything but "grey" as they plan the annual pilgrimage to their favourite spot or break away from city life to explore the wide expanses.%%"
Charlie's salutes all Caravaners - Past, Present and Future. To the Road!
The menu is amazing and the prices are too. My friends and I were very surprised with how reasonable the prices were! We all ordered roast of the day. There was a huge choice of food on the menu. The service was excellent. We found a table and sat down to have a drink. We checked out the menu. The menus are laminated and we used them as placemats.
The choice was large and varied. Steak, fish, chicken, pork and more. I was nicely surprised by the cost of the meals. And taste! Our roasts were yummy. We could choose roast chicken or roast pork., with roast vegetables, gravy and apple sauce.
Brighton Hotel offers fine dining in Charlie's Bistro. There is a trivia night every Tuesday at 7.00pm. There is a bar, outdoor dining, and a function area. Accomodation is also available. There is a small coffee room with tables and chairs and free coffee. And you may need a licence to use the coffee machine, lol.
While I was researching Brighton Hotel and Charlie's Bistro, there was a post advertising soloists and Djs. It might be worth enquiring about if you live locally. Here is the ad - "general enquiry - looking for a soloist to play Sunday times, and maybe Friday nights at the Brighton Hotel. Email your prices to
[email protected] . Great for someone just starting out. Looking for quotes for a DJ once a month, maximum four hours a night. Email or phone Rob Kerridge 07 3269 7105".
Head to the Brighton Hotel for very affordable, great food.
