Having paid a visit to
Bright in country Victoria; I can honestly say that this destination is a beautiful place, and I believe autumn is one of the best seasons to visit Bright. Your timing could not be better at the right season. The colours of the trees were fantastic and the top of
Mt Buffalo was snowy, so therefore building a snowman was an absolute must. I stayed in a camping site at
Bright Holiday Park with my husband. It's a beautiful place. We took the opportunity to camp near the river, close enough to listen to the water flowing during the night. Just make sure you have enough clothes and blankets to see you through those chilly nights.
During the day, Bright looks like paradise for landscape photographers, you can find the best shots to transform your pictures in fantastic Canvas for your living area. I came back home with a great picture in
Delany Avenue, which will bring Bright to home every time I wish. There are also lots of walking tracks in Bright, just next to the town. The best one, in my opinion is the one near
Ovens River where you can see the amazing water races carved by the hands of early gold miners. Have a look at the following
link to see all of the enjoyable walking tracks in detail.
If you enjoy fly fishing, Ovens River is particularly awesome and perfect for that activity. You can fish while walking along the amazing river surrounded by many beautiful different trees and flowers. I believe the best time to catch your own trouts would be from October to December. Nevertheless, it would be worthy trying to prove you are somewhat a lucky fisher during the rest months of the year. And if you happened not to be lucky and you get the urge to eat local trout try the fish farms at
Harrietville, where you still catch your own trout without freezing yourself and in a lot less time.
Mt Buffalo National Park, just a few minutes from Bright is one of Australia's most amazing national parks. I love hiking and bushwalking. The
Mt Buffalo walking trails, which vary from short to long and tricky ones; made way for an awesome bushwalking experience. In your way to
Eurobin Falls, you can find an old
ladies bath, of which I assumed it was just for summer baths.
It was too chilly to imagine myself in a 'natural shower.' You can also find other falls, such as
Rollasons Falls and other fantastic views. In the following
link you will find the length and walking time of each of the trails you can enjoy at Mt Buffalo.
I did not have the chance to go in summer yet, although in saying this I can imagine it would be a great experience; especially if you are travelling with kids, because Ovens River has got some pristine natural pools, toboggans and trampolines. I found them awesome and I hope they are for adults as well. I just let my imagination fly, and I could see all kids playing in that river. It is a fantastic experience.
Make sure you travel with snow chains at this time of the year, so that you can also go and visit Mt Hotham and Mt Beauty, both of which are not too far from Bright.
