Twelve nights of Christmas lights, movies, carols & food
Every year South Bank, Brisbane's cultural and community hub, presents a free Christmas program with something for all the family. This year the River Quay precinct will be the focus for events, the place where you can experience the wonder and fun of Bright Star from Friday 13th December until Tuesday 24th December 2013.
This year's festival is packed full of movies, food, lights, decorations and special carols concerts, so get along for your seasonal dose of Christmas cheer. The highlights of this year's program are listed below.

If you were a fan of the last season of The Voice you're going to love Bright Star Carols. From 13th to 22nd December the popular River Quay Green will be the venue for night-time Christmas Carols concerts that will run from 6.30pm to 7.15pm. The Voice 2013 winner, Harrison Craig, will perform from 13th to 17th, with his runner-up Luke Kennedy taking over from 18th to 22nd. They'll both be supported by talented Brisbane local, Morgan Balfour.
The magic of Christmas wouldn't be quite the same without the sparkling, winking, luminous appeal of Christmas lights, and South Bank has them in spades. This year the stately, spreading fig tree that stands guard over the River Quay precinct will be bedecked with lights and decoration, creating a very Brisbane take on Christmas trees. The amphitheatre will also be festooned with colour and lights.
Love them or hate them, Christmas-themed movies are a big part of contemporary Christmases, and we all know it's better to experience them on the big screen while lazing on a rug on a patch of green under the stars. Enter Bright Star Movies. From old time classics like Miracle on 34th Street to Home Alone or Elf, you can see your favourites at River Quay green. You can even help to decide which movies will screen on the two nights before Christmas by visiting the Facebook page to vote in the coming weeks. You can see the full movie program here. Movies begin at 7.30pm nightly throughout the program.
River Quay is South Bank's popular dining precinct, with five top restaurants - Stokehouse Q, Aquitaine, The Jetty South Bank, Popolo Italian Kitchen and Bar and Cove Bar and Dining. They'll be revving up their kitchens for Christmas. Book in for dinner so you'll get front row seats for the celebrations with your meal or get yourself a feast to enjoy on the lawns. Details of Feast packages will be released soon.
