If you're looking for a day of education and entertainment for kids between ages 3 to 10 and the rest of the family, check out the new kids and family event at The Workshops Rail Museum. Part of the Queensland Museum, The Workshops Rail Museum offers an unsurpassed heritage and cultural experience of the oldest operational railway workshop in Australia.

Entitled 'Bright Sparks at The Workshops Rail Museum', the event offers families a day at Museum and access to all exhibits in a ticket plus science, invention and experimentation activities for children. Your kids can participate in a hands-on Inventors Workshop using K'nex, gears and cogs to create something; see the largest model railway of Queensland; take a guided tour of a real heritage railway workshop in operation for over 140 years (enclosed footwear required); get up close to the huge steam locomotives and massive industrial machinery; and many more.
