If you are like me you love hearing about new and interesting school holiday activities for your kids. And it's a bonus if it is educational as well. So when I heard about Bricks 4 Kidz school holiday workshops I instantly thought what a great idea.

Bricks 4 Kidz uses the popularity & fun of building with LEGO bricks to introduce children to STEM concepts (that's science, technology, engineering & maths to us oldies).

At the workshops children will work in small groups to build projects using specially created Bricks 4 Kidz models. Children will work and play with LEGO Technic pieces such as gears, axles, electric motors and more. Workshops also include unique games and challenges, plus there is also plenty of time for free play.

In the upcoming April school holidays Bricks 4 Kidz are running various full and half day workshops including :

Space Adventures - build models related to the NASA space program & LEGO Star Wars themed models

Mining and Crafting - create Minecraft style shelters, mobs, critters and tools using traditional LEGO Bricks and LEGO Mosaic builds. There are no screens (hallelujah), everything is built with their hands. If your kids love Minecraft and LEGO then book early as this one is popular.

Amusement Park Mayhem - Build amusement park rides with motorised models and learn how to make things spin, roll, turn and rock

Bricks 4 Girlz - a girls only day of crafting & creating with LEGO bricks

Angry Birdies - In this fun workshop kids will build birds, launch them through the air, build racing carts, and more

Super Heroes - Explore all the caped crusaders and discover their super powers! Create a fantasy world and protect it against all of the evil arch enemies with custom contraptions made with LEGO Bricks.

Remote Control Mania - create vehicles, inventions or machines & learn how to make them move with LEGO wireless remote controls.

The school holiday programs are designed for children aged 6 - 12 years and are staffed by trained instructors.

For some extra fun test your LEGO knowledge with my quick quiz:

True or False?
1. Regular LEGO bricks and LEGO Duplo bricks can fit together
2. LEGO mini figures are the world's largest population
3. There are seven Legoland locations worldwide
4. There are no military-themed LEGO sets
5. "LEGO Master Model Builder" is an actual job title

If you answered True to all of the questions, give yourself a gold LEGO star as you are correct

1. Try it yourself - LEGO Duplo bricks actually do fit together with the regular bricks
2. There are over 4 billion LEGO mini fgures around the world, making them the world's largest population
3. Legoland locations are: Denmark; United Kingdom, California, Germany, Florida, Malaysia & Manchester
4. The creator of LEGO did not want war to be appealing to children and made a condition that they would not make any military themed sets
5. At LEGO attractions people are hired as "Master Model Builders". It is actually a job but there are not many of them.
