The Brickpit Sports Stadium indoor/outdoor sports stadium is really one of a kind. It has so many things to do that everyone will be entertained. Accessible via the F3, the Hills M2 motorway and a short walk from Normanhurst train station, this sports centre has so much to offer it would be a great day out for all the family.
It features on site parking, a large skate ramp section, sports courts including basketball, netball, volleyball and a driving range, a park with equipment, picnic tables and a flying fox and even mini golf. The Brickpit is home to many different sports and clubs, such as table tennis coaching or competitions, exercise programs and soccer for pre-schoolers, boxing and Pilates classes and also a bridge club.
Located within this sports park is Thornleigh Golf Centre. The Thornleigh Golf Centre has separate parking, a driving range, a cafe and best of all a gorgeous mini golf centre. The mini golf here is very attractive. They have created little hills, ramps, bridges and little ponds with water fountains in them around the entire course. It has a very tropical holiday look and feel about it.
Thornleigh Tennis Centre
Although it appears to be small this mini golf centre actually has two 18 hole courses to choose from. They offer discounts for groups and also birthday parties and corporate golf days. The mini golf is open 7 days a week till 9pm. A cafe is located right next to the course. The driving range which has huge catching nets is also located here. You can bring your own clubs or hire from their range. You can choose between small, medium and large buckets of balls.
Want to learn the in and outs of golf or improve your swing in a relaxed and fun environment? They also provide lessons for young and old. You can choose to have one on one lessons or group lessons. Beginner golf clinics are also available with fully qualified instructors. They also have an on site golf shop featuring all major brands and latest products. The staff know their stuff and can help you find the product that suits you. If you are looking for the perfect gift for a keen golfer then this place is perfect as they also provide gift cards.
But wait there's more. Thornleigh skate park is also located here. It has heaps of high ledges, dips and a large open bowl, perfect for bikes, skateboarders and scooters. This is not for amateurs, this is a serious skate park and all riders should use caution. If you don't quite have the skills it can be fun to watch. This skate park is super smooth which also makes it slippery. BMX riders will love it.
Thornleigh Skateboard Park
At one far corner of the sports centre is a park. The park has picnic tables, a large climbing frame and a really big flying fox. It looks like great fun. There is two cafe's one inside the stadium and one at the golf centre but you could also bring a picnic lunch and have it in the lovely park here.
'The Bunker' Cafe
Kiosk located within the sports centre
We went there last weekend to see the model train show. This was in one of the full sized basketball courts. The model train show is held there every year. It features heaps of gorgeous, massively detailed miniature train sets. The scenery really is breathtaking.
One of the four basketball courts is a show court which features bench stadium seating for up to 300 people. Courts or meeting rooms are available for hire. Any indoor sport would benefit from hiring here also.
Your child's next birthday bash between the ages of 6-14 could be held here. The birthday boy/girl can choose to have a soccer, netball or basketball party. If they can't decide they can have a combination of all three. The parties are fully supervised and food is also provided.
Best of all a crèche is open during all classes and they provide safe supervision for your child.
The only two improvements I think they could make are to provide more on site parking (it was absolutely packed when I went there) and to make the courts walls more appealing and damage proof.
So pack the car with bikes, clubs, scooters, a picnic and the whole family and head on down to the Brickpit. You will be glad you did, a great place for young and old. Meet you at the Brickpit!
