Built within the historic Gaslight Tavern at Brompton, is where you can enjoy pub-style dishes and a few dishes from various international cuisine. For those that desire a bit of variety, the hotel offers a few specials alongside their main menu.
is among the few places that we are aware of that offers Pork Schnitzel. The meat of their pork schnitzel was juicy and was set off nicely by the crisp crumb coating. The chips served with the schnitzel were fried to golden brown and were not too salty. The side salad added an element of freshness. For the sauce, we chose pepper sauce which had a good degree of peppery flavour.
Offered as a special during our visit, the barramundi used in the Harissa Baked Fish was cooked just right and sufficient harissa sauce was used to give it a delectable spiced flavour. The chickpeas in the accompanying chickpea salad still retained a bit of bite and extra texture was provided by the quinoa. The hummus that the barramundi was served on complemented it nicely with its earthy flavour.
Their Corn Ribs had a sweet flavour and while not apparent from the dish's description on the menu, were seasoned with a spice mix to give them a hit of spiciness. The corn ribs were served with a silken tofu aioli.
The décor of the hotel gave it a modern feel. The positioning of some tables between pillars gives privacy to diners. A beer garden is intended to be built in the future to provide more seating options for diners.
