Bribie Island Train Trip

A week of wet weather in Brisbane has resulted in me going on a rare train trip to Bribie Island to try to get some stormy ocean photos. I caught a train from Brisbane Central Station at 6.04 AM, where I caught a Sunshine Coast train to the northern city of Caboolture and upon disembarking found the 640 bus to Woorim Beach Bribie Island, awaiting even with a few passengers aboard.


The total trip in one direction was under two hours and overall was quite easy to work out with friendly bus drivers and people aboard. The area looked quite safe and optimistic and overall, I was very grateful for the colourful plant life, making my hiking fun. I had virtually the entire beach all to myself. There was a lot of birdlife on the day and that made my visit very peaceful and added to the overall effect. The waves weren't stormy, however, so, I was left to take many snaps and work on capturing reflections and birdlife as the sun was a gorgeous bluish silver on the ocean and made several snaps look beautiful and original.


Places north of Brisbane indeed get a lot of sun and Bribie Island is a gateway destination to the Sunshine Coast region, so to capture such dreary moments was very interesting and a great way to spend a wet day. It was also a chance to review the train and bus trip there, especially given what a safe and convenient alternative it is to a long drive that can be done instead. The train trip and bus ride back to the city was easy as the Bribie Island bus is timed to terminate just before a frequent train departure from Caboolture Station. Despite wet weather, the day was a good example of making something from nothing. It wasn't a great morning for making a holiday brochure. In Queensland, grey skies are so rare, it proved very quaint and isolable to make my photo collection and walk the lonely streets and beaches with only the chirping birds as company.
