Beautiful Bribie Island has so much to offer by way of vistas, cultural experiences and artistic pursuits that visitors are hard-pressed to take in the island’s true character. But now here’s the perfect opportunity to really get to know this beautiful and vibrant area and the people who make it so fantastic.

The Bribie Island Nature Festival has been developed by locals for everybody to come along and slow down, explore little-known places and picturesque paths as you discover some of the unique local talents that seem to abound on this remarkable island.

There will be plenty of time to get around to whatever interests you. The Festival is set to start on Friday 18th and continue on until Sunday 20th October 2024.



The Festival has been designed to showcase the unique environment and natural beauty of Bribie Island and to do this its attractions are spread far and wide. Some activities include events in the great outdoors in stunning locations, fascinating cultural tours, guided nature walks, visual arts exhibitions, an art trail of local galleries and artists’ studios and shops, workshops, where you can join in talks and lectures by the artists, scientists and community leaders.

The Bribie Island Nature Festival is s superb showcase set up to celebrate stunningly beautiful Bribie Island.


The attractions are many and varied. They are spread out all over the island and are set out individually here in the Festival’s program. The whole three days are crammed with stimulating activities many of which can be enjoyed for FREE.

When you decide which activities you would like to attend it is advisable to book early as many events have limited capacities.

As a sampler to the fun you could try out these events:

Writing About Nature workshop with ecologist Darryl Jones
Professor emeritus Darryl Jones of Griffith University leads this workshop where he discusses ways you can describe your impressions of the nature all around you.

Be prepared to join in and bring along a paragraph of your own writing to share and your favourite way of writing (notebook or laptop).


Wild Wonders — Bribie Island Nature Festival
Something for the kids. Wild Wonders is two hours of science and nature-based activities for youngsters. The activity features Jarrah, the wildlife detection dog, who will be doing demonstrations and Geckoes Wildlife presenting a variety of native animals that children can get up close and personal.

Walkshop 24 — Bribie Island Nature Festival
There's also a beautiful walk/art meditation by local artist Tracey Benson. You will take a guided walk and experience the sights and sounds of your surroundings as you take in those sensations and incorporate them into visual arts activities.

Wings of the World — Bribie Island Nature Festival
Join the knowledgeable volunteers at the Kakadu Beach Roost around high tide and learn about the amazing avian travellers and what you can do to protect them. See how to use spotting scopes and binoculars, get expert help in getting to know species such as godwits, knots, sandpipers, stints and plovers – and maybe even the Critically Endangered Far-Eastern Curlew.


Artists of Bribie - Island Artist Trail — Bribie Island Nature Festival
Visit the Bribie Island Community Arts Centre as the starting point for the Artists of Bribie art trail running over the festival weekend. From sculpture to landscapes, digital art media, photography, ceramics and paintings in a variety of media the Artists of Bribie art trail showcases the depth and breadth of Bribie's creative talent.
