That something special to add to any beach holiday - books
A holiday just isn't a holiday without a new book to read. Do you agree? It doesn't matter how far the distance travelled, or the length of time spent travelling, the truth is that it is handy to have some reading material on you. For those lazy beach holidays a book is simply compulsory.
So what did I discover during a recent few days spent fishing and swimming at Bribie Island, approximately 70km north of Brisbane and located in the northern part of Moreton Bay?
The Bribie Island Book Exchange is stocked, almost from floor to ceiling, with preloved books. Over 27,000 of them in fact. Now that's a lot of books!
The point of difference with this outlet is that it is light and airy, without that musty smell so often associated with old books. There are over thirty genres, all grouped and easily identifiable including Fiction, History, Military, Biographies, Gardening, and Children's Literature. The array of magazines is really impressive, and even if you won't admit it to friends, a good mag is a great way to lose an hour or two.
On offer are also DVDs, Comics, Audio Books and Jigsaw Puzzles. Yes, you read that correctly: Jigsaw Puzzles.
Entrance to Bribie Island Book Exchange
On the Passage side of Bribie Island at Shop 3 /1 Toorbul Street, Bongaree, and opposite Brennan Park, full of playground equipment, seating and shady trees (just in case you are in a position to lose the kids for some quality "me" time), Bribie Island Book Exchange is worth a visit. The staff on the day I visited were knowledgeable and helpful and I was thrilled to be able to add to my collection.
